Senior House Officers A&E

Doctors Direct have a new and exciting opportunity for a Senior House Officers to work with us at Northern Care Alliance Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in A&E.

We are looking for a dedicated doctor ready to work in a fast-paced environment at a Trust serving more than 300,000 people across North Warwickshire, Southwest Leicestershire and North Coventry. This role would be predominantly based at NCA with the opportunity to work extra shifts across the Trusts’ other sites and any of our partner Trusts.

NCA NHS Trust opened in 1948 and provides a range of elective, non-elective, surgical, medical, women’s, children’s, diagnostic and therapeutic services. A full range of sexual health services across Warwickshire is also provided by the Trust.

 

The details of the role are:

  • Grade: SHO
  • Location: Northern Care Alliance
  • Start date: ASAP on going until further notice
  • Shift pattern: Various shift patterns/any day of the week, full/part time hours available
  • Rates: £45ph

 

About the role:

  • Conduct initial assessments of patients presenting to the emergency department
  • Prioritize patients based on the urgency of their medical needs, ensuring that those with critical conditions receive immediate attention.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as blood tests, X-rays, and other imaging studies, to aid in the diagnosis of patients.
  • This may involve prescribing medications, performing procedures, or coordinating with other specialists.
  • Be proficient in basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) procedures. Participate in resuscitation efforts for patients experiencing cardiac arrest or other life-threatening emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records, documenting patient assessments, treatment plans, and outcomes in accordance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to junior medical staff, including foundation doctors and medical students, as they rotate through the emergency department.
